Seven years ago when I first became a coach I honestly didn’t have anything resembling a niche, though I suspect the delusions of grandeur baked into the copy on my website said otherwise. Really, I just “helped people” – typically they were people with anxiety, depression, OCD or stress and I helped them to have peace of mind.

Modern life today is all about more, more, more. And so is the natural world. The difference is: nature has death baked right in, whereas death has become such a cultural taboo we’ll do anything to avoid it in almost all its forms (whilst subconsciously seeking it in others).

I’ve been spending a lot of time this week feeling awe and appreciation for my work… it feels strange to call it a business, even though that’s what it is… it’s just that it’s really so much more than that, it’s an embodiment and expression of my very soul.

A question I’m often asked (most recently yesterday regarding Waking The Wild Medicine)… “I feel so drawn to your work but I’m concerned it’ll conflict with my 3Ps/non-dual training – is there a conflict?”

My dreams and visions have been intense lately… a ceremonial bonfire in which I was throwing in the names of my identities, powerful spirit animals, walking alone and lonely, wandering Mayan ruins… and the synchronicities showing up have been pure magic.

At this point, it seems to me it’s a case of ‘when, not if’ we embrace real magic in our culture… Modern science is slowly catching up with what shamanic traditions have understood for eons (which in turn, most anthropologists obediently papered over until recently).

The myth: The easy part is discovering what your Soul Work is (AKA if you really had a soul purpose, wouldn’t you already know it?).

The reality: For many people this is the hardest part of all. I spent decades searching, knowing I was here for something deeper and more meaningful than running corporate websites (not that I’m knocking that, that might well be someone’s Soul Work, it just wasn’t mine) but couldn’t figure out what the flip it was.

You’ve never really felt like you fit in though you’ve tried your damnedest to do so (hello, Raven trying to be a pigeon).

This picture, a print of Waterhouse’s The Soul of the Rose was a wedding present from my husband 11 years ago, it hangs on our bedroom wall and reminds me daily of the dreamy, poetic and soulful way that I’m devoted to living.

To create a business, a real business – the beautiful, fantastical, edgy af, playful and love-fuelled one that your soul is inconveniently calling you to – takes time. Time to hear your soul’s call, time to find the courage to heed it and then a lot more time than you believe at the start that you can or will give it before it ‘works’.
